A day I won’t forget in a hurry!

The 31st March 2017 is a day I won’t forget in a hurry!

Graham, Gytis, Harry, Heather, June and myself were lucky enough to experience the beautiful surroundings of The Hurlingham Club in London for the Association Excellence Awards where over 300 professionals from a diverse range of Associations gathered to celebrate the achievements of the past year.

What made the day extra special for us? We won an award for Best Member Communication!

I can still remember that buzz after hearing our name being called out. As we were walking up to the stage to collect the award the announcer was reading out some of the feedback from the judges but it was all a blur for us after we heard “this was a clear winner”. What a fantastic feeling!

This award in particular means a lot to us as an organisation. To receive that recognition from an outstanding panel of judges at the top of their industry was a real achievement and even more importantly, it showed us that our hard work to improve our communications since we rebranded in October 2015 has really paid off.

We’re continuously looking for new ways to improve and stay ahead of the curve. Some of the keys projects we’ve been working on include;

  • Updating our social media and website strategy
  • Producing more key facts sheets, blog posts and infographics which break down important information
  • Launching a fully mobile compatible members section on our website
  • Creating a fully interactive Members Pack – a go to guide for everything pharmacy related
  • Building a new, searchable FAQ App to allow you to submit questions to us quickly & easily online
  • Encouraging two-way communication with our members through focus groups
  • Engaging with early years’ pharmacists
  • Growing our Associate Membership which lets us support more people

Some of the feedback from the judges included;

Good coverage, meaningful content, direct engagement with new and existing members. Appears to fulfil a sector/community need.

This stood out, they are on an exciting journey of reinvention and moving with the times. All the points were well addressed with increased audience engagement through their social media thus reaching all cohorts. A particularly passionate team.

After recognising areas for improvement Community Pharmacy Scotland developed a communications strategy that gave clear direction on what activities will add value. This included a number of great initiatives that engaged members in numerous different ways including online and social media. This led to an impressive set of results.

We are still on a high from the day and we are very proud to see how far we've come. A big thank you goes to all our members who help us by giving us that invaluable feedback which allows us to look for ways to provide the best possible information and support.

But as always, we aren’t stopping there! I’m really looking forward to the next few months as we work on exciting new projects and ideas.

We’ll be launching our latest Communications Survey to get your feedback in the coming weeks so it would be great if you could please take part when you see the link dropping in your inboxes!
