LFD Collect Service – Process Simplified

Published: 16/12/21

We have taken a great deal of your feedback over the last few days and understand that the current operation of the LFD collect service is unduly disrupting the delivery of your core services in some areas…

We put a proposal to Scottish Government yesterday to temporarily streamline the process for claiming by not taking individual details from patients, and we are pleased to say that this has been accepted. The rest of the SOP will remain unchanged, but until the 10th of January, the process is now as follows:

  1. Patient requests LFD kit(s)

  2. Pharmacy team member takes note of the batch number of the kit(s) to be handed out

    • You may wish to review internal processes and e.g. keep a tally of kits of each batch handed out throughout the day

  3. Pharmacy supplies LFD kit(s) to individual along with key messages, without recording their details or processing through the PMR

  4. At the end of the day, pharmacy team member submits a UCF claim for each batch that kits were supplied from. You should use the “COVID-19 LFD Supply” heading to submit the claim, using the dummy patient details below (though please note, these don’t have to be exact, it just helps validate the claim. The important parts are the quantity and batch number):

    • Forename: LFD

    • Surname: Kit

    • DOB: 01/01/2000

    • Address: 1 Any Street, NF1 1AB

So, for example – if you supplied 26 kits from batch A1080021 and 13 from batch A1080022 in the course of a day, you would submit just two UCF claims for the above patient, detailing the number of kits in the quantity field and the batch number in the usual “supporting document reference” field.

There will not be an updated circular to reflect this change, as the intention is to return to the full process outlined in the SOP from the 10th of January to support the identification of any recalled/faulty batches.
