NES Foundation Training Year (FTY) Recruitment for 2026/27: Opportunity to Participate Now!

Published: 27/02/25

As part of the preparations for the recruitment process for the summer 2026 intake of Foundation Training Year (FTY) trainee pharmacists, NHS Education for Scotland (NES) is now seeking expressions of interest from training providers who would like to participate in the process.

Please note: From 2025/26, all FTY posts in Scotland must be recruited via this national process, administered by NES, due to GPhC accreditation requirements. The number of FTY posts available in Scotland is determined by Scottish Government funding.

If you intend to offer Foundation Training Year posts in the 2026/27 training year, please confirm the details requested via the Training Provider Information (TPI) form linked below.

Before completing the EOI form, you should review the Training Provider Handbook, which can be found here:  FTY Training Provider Handbook. This contains information on the recruitment process and the commitment required from training providers.

Please note: NES has introduced a Terms of Participation document, which all training providers will be asked to confirm agreement with before signing up. This is accessible via the link above. Please take the time to read it carefully before confirming your interest in becoming a training provider for the 2026/27 training year.

The deadline for expressions of interest is Friday, 14th March 2025 at 12pm.

It should take no longer than 10 minutes to read and complete this form, as we appreciate how busy pharmacy organisations are.

Once you have completed the expression of interest form, NES will contact you to confirm that you can log in to TPI to edit your Training Provider Information Statement (TPIS). If you were involved in recruitment for the 2025/26 training year, you will already have login details for the TPI site. If that is the case, please do not begin completing your TPIS until you receive our confirmation of registration email.

If you are new to the process, NES will provide TPI login details and guidance on how to complete your TPIS once your contact information has been confirmed. Our confirmation of registration email will include further instructions.

If you have any queries about FTY recruitment, please contact NES via their Service Desk:  Recruitment Query - HR Trainee Services - Jira Service Management (atlassian.net)
