We have worked closely with our colleagues at NES to develop and support Teach and Treat Hubs across Scotland.

What is Teach and Treat?

National Education for Scotland (NES) Teach and Treat for Common Clinical Conditions is delivered for community pharmacists, by community pharmacists. It is quality assured experiential learning for newly qualified CPIPs, delivered in designated community pharmacies across Scotland by our Hub Lead Pharmacists (who are also experienced Community Pharmacist Independent Prescribers).

Why have we created the Teach and Treat Model?

Hubs expose qualified independent prescriber attendees to a variety of presentations of acute common clinical conditions. Under the close supervision of the Hub Lead Pharmacist, attendees will get the hands-on experience of using their advanced clinical and consultation skills. From the differential diagnosis to the management plan agreed with the Hub Lead Pharmacist, learning and feedback are delivered as part of the practical supervision and through workplace-based assessments.

CPS/NES funded Community Pharmacy Independent Prescribers have one half day session at a Teach and Treat Hub included in their supported programme. This session can be booked at T and T Hub Locations once you have completed your qualification and the 4 Clinical Training days.

A wee note for trainees - our colleagues in the Teach & Treat Hubs are very helpful and offer support where they can. Thank you Hub Leads! However the Hubs are primarily for T&T sessions with newly qualified CP IPs , and are not specifically intended for PLP. This means that they need to prioritise the T&T and may not always be able to offer support.
