NES Webinar - Substance Use Disorder

Our colleagues at NES and Healthcare Improvement Scotland have asked us to highlight an upcoming webinar which will focus on the critical role that pharmacy teams can play in supporting people who use substances in Scotland and achieving the national mission to prevent drug deaths. The event will also examine the impact of trauma and stigma on the outcomes of people who use our services.


Speakers confirmed are:

Catriona Matheson, Professor of Substance Use, University of Stirling who will provide insights into the current landscape of Drug Related Deaths (DRDs) in Scotland

Adrian Mackenzie, Clinical Lead, MAT Standards, healthcare Improvement Scotland will explain the MAT Standards and their significance to pharmacy teams.

Jonathan Burton, Scottish Pharmacy Board, RPS and Community pharmacist will talk about Positive Pharmacy experiences and the impact of stigma.

We will have a further speaker who will focus on Positive Pharmacy experiences focusing on the impact of trauma

The evening will also launch updated resources related to Substance Use and ensure teams are aware of other resources to the support the recovery journey of people who use substances.
