Karen Gilfillan: Audit and Services Assistant

I joined Community Pharmacy Scotland as a Pharmacy Services Assistant in October 2019. I came from a Community Pharmacy background in Scotland.

Whilst I enjoyed my role in pharmacy finding it a great learning opportunity in a supportive team environment, I had become increasingly interested in how our pharmacies worked, the process behind the services we provided to the community, and the potential growth for the future within Community Pharmacy.

I have learned so much in my time with CPS already and continue to experience more each day. I find it very rewarding to be able to use this knowledge to assist contractors with enquiries – I’ve been there myself with many of the queries that come in, and it feels good to be able to help people from this end now.

I work with the rest of the team in our monthly pricing surveys and enquiries. I also produce the Ready Reckoner weekly and am working my way around Finance so I welcome gaining further experience in this with any payment enquiries you may have to come my way!

I am the Liaison Officer for our committee in CP Tayside.
