Community Pharmacy Seeks Involvement in National Flu Vaccine Strategy Planning

Published: 06/01/25

Adam Osprey, our Head of Policy and Development, has been filming with STV in Broughton Pharmacy in response to reports that pharmacies were running short of flu vaccines for their private services in some areas. You can watch the full interview below:

On behalf of our members, Adam pointed out that pharmacy owners have to order their vaccine stock many months before NHS policies are agreed - this year’s exclusion of 50-64 year olds, teachers and prison workers have led to unexpected demand on private services.

We are calling for community pharmacy to be involved in the early stages of planning each year and for a national NHS pharmacy flu service going forward.
