PCA(P)(2019)01 - Community Pharmacy Workforce Survey 2019

Published: 10/01/19

This Circular reminds NHS Boards and community pharmacy contractors of the intention to undertake a community pharmacy workforce survey.

Background

Circular PCA(P)(2017)14 notified community pharmacy owners and NHS Boards of the intention to perform a workforce survey in February 2018. The survey completed in February 2018 had a 98% completion rate across all Boards.

NHS Education for Scotland (NES) have agreed with Community Pharmacy Scotland to again co-ordinate this annual workforce survey. Collection of data will be undertaken in March 2019, as opposed to February, in order to minimise any impact on the implementation of the Falsified Medicines Directive.

Detail

Pharmacy Practitioner Champions are again requested in the assisting of NHS Education for Scotland (NES) to undertake a community pharmacy workforce survey week commencing Monday 4 – Sunday 10 March 2019 by collating data from the independent community pharmacies within their specific Board area and submitting it to val.findlay@nes.scot.nhs.uk by Friday 5 April 2019.

Practitioner Champions should work with and be responsible to their NHS Board for the programme of work to be undertaken.

Community Pharmacy Scotland has been consulted on the terms of this circular.

Action

NHS Boards are asked to note the contents of this Circular and to copy to community pharmacy contractors and the Area Pharmaceutical Committee for information.
