Purpose

This circular advises community pharmacy contractors and NHS Boards on the amendments to the Drug Tariff Part 11 clawback scale.

Background

Circular PCA(P)(2023)08 advised that the Drug Tariff in respect of the Part 11 discount clawback scale would be reset to 4.00% effective from 1 April 2023. 

Drug Tariff Part 11 

The Part 11 discount clawback rate to the Drug Tariff shall be reset to 1.79% effective 1 December 2023. As such the target clawback has been adjusted accordingly. See the attached Annex for further detail on the scale. 

Pending any further notice, the Part 11 target clawback rate shall be reviewed in accordance with the agreed context of the funding arrangements upon receipt of the next Quarterly Discount Survey 

The guidance and Optometry-Pharmacy referral form have now been reviewed and updated. The updated referral form should be used with immediate effect. 

Optometry teams should note that there have also been some changes made to the eye products that can be supplied by community pharmacies
