NES Infection Prevention and Control Education Team have an in-depth module aimed to equip those working in health and social care with the knowledge and skills needed to prevent and minimise the risk of acquiring an infection from blood or body fluid.

This module can be used in community pharmacy teams to either support first time learning or update prior knowledge. It is important that anyone in a community pharmacy team who is involved in delivering any service which involves handling sharps and related equipment, has an understanding of how to prevent and manage exposure to needle stick injury and infection.

Please also refer to any local health board guidance that may be available to your pharmacy team.
