Prescription Collection: Thursday, 17th October 2024
Your next Parcelforce prescription collection is coming up on Thursday, 17th October 2024. You should have your prescriptions counted, and in the Parcelforce bag along with your GP34 ready for the driver to collect.
PCA(P)(2024)30 - Updated Documentation for Emergency and Bridging Contraception
This Circular advises community pharmacy contractors of an updated Patient Group Direction (PGD) that is to be implemented for the provision of desogestrel as bridging contraception.

Volunteers Needed for a Women’s Health Study
Community Pharmacy Scotland (CPS) is seeking to recruit at least 100 individuals with an interest in women’s health for a study conducted through a bespoke smartphone app developed specifically for this research.
Clinical Skills Training and Teach and Treat
There are a number of different groups of CPIPs who have undertaken CP IP training over recent years. The attached document gives relevant information on Clinical Skills Training and Teach & Treat for each group.

What is Teach & Treat?
National Education for Scotland (NES) Teach and Treat for Common Clinical Conditions is delivered for community pharmacists, by community pharmacists. It is quality assured experiential learning for newly qualified CPIPs, delivered in designated community pharmacies across Scotland by our Hub Lead Pharmacists (who are also experienced Community Pharmacist Independent Prescribers).

Coming Soon: New Teach and Treat Site
We are pleased to confirm that a new Teach & Treat site will go live in Glasgow early in 2025. This will provide another location for the delivery of this excellent service for our newly qualified Community Pharmacy Independent Prescriber employees. Look out for more detail later in the year.

There is a new pharmacy poster campaign running from Monday 30th September.
Proposed changes to the Availability of Puberty Blockers – Department of Health and Social Care Consultation
This consultation seeks views on the proposal to make a permanent order to come into force when the second emergency order to prevent new patients aged under 18 from beginning to take puberty blockers for the purposes of gender incongruence and/or gender dysphoria, under the care of private prescribers expires.
