Our Charity Partner

This year we have partnered with St Columba’s Hospice, an independent charity offering free, flexible and person-centred palliative care and support to patients and their families. The St. Columba’s Hospice team were there for Gavin, (a close friend of CPS) and his family during a very difficult time in their lives.

Redefining Hospice Care

St Columba's exists to give everyone who needs it the very best hospice care. They’re an independent charity at the heart of their local community, offering free, flexible and person-centred palliative care and support to our patients and their families.

Who Makes it Happen?

From the doctors and nurses to physios, chaplains, occupational and complementary therapists, they all make a difference to the lives of patients and families on an hourly basis.

Support for you

There are all sorts of misconceptions about what a hospice actually is. We’re incredibly proud of our state-of-the-art hospice building, but our care extends far beyond our four walls.

How They Run

St Columba’s Hospice Care is run to the benefit of people with palliative care needs from Edinburgh and the Lothians and their families. They are independent, which means they can adopt the types of service most beneficial to their patients and region. It also means they have to raise considerable funds every year to care for people like we do.

It costs £11.13m a year to run our services

As an independent charity, much of that money comes from generous people just like you. We’d love to have the resources to reach even more people with illnesses who could benefit hugely from the various forms of care we provide.

Their independence is one of their key strengths, but it also means they rely on the support of you and their community to continue to provide world class palliative care.

Your generosity directly helps them to maintain their invaluable services for patients and families across Edinburgh and the Lothians. 85p of every £1 is spent directly on patient care with the other 15p going towards raising the next £1.
