PCA(P)(2020)03 - NHS Pharmacy First Scotland: eLearning Payment for Contractors
Published: 09/03/20
Introduction
This Circular advises community pharmacy contractors and NHS Boards of a one-off payment available to community pharmacy contractors to cover the completion of e-learning modules for the roll-out of the new NHS Pharmacy First Scotland service
Background
A new redesigned minor ailment and common clinical conditions service is being launched in April 2020 under the name NHS Pharmacy First Scotland.
Detail
This circular advises that contractors should ensure that all of their community pharmacists complete the mandatory NES e-learning module (accessible here: https://learn.nes.nhs.scot/27650/pharmacy/cpdresources/nhs-pharmacy-first-scotland) on the new NHS Pharmacy First Scotland service.
Payment of £100 will be made per contractor code. This payment will be actioned by Practitioner Services in March for payment in May 2020.
Payment will be made on the basis that all pharmacists have undertaken and completed the mandatory NES elearning module. The module will be available through TURAS Learn from 9 March 2020.
Community pharmacies are asked to maintain documentation as evidence that the e-learning has been completed for post payment verification checks, should this be required. This is likely to be done by week commencing 20 April 2020.
Contractors should ensure that community pharmacists and the whole pharmacy team familiarise themselves with the service specification and other documentation relating to the NHS Pharmacy First Scotland service, which will be made available ahead of implementation in April 2020.
Community Pharmacy Scotland has been consulted on the contents of this Circular.
Action
NHS Boards should share a copy of this Circular and bring it to the attention of community pharmacy contractors, local pharmacy committees and Health and Social Care Partnerships.
