The Scottish Government have updated the NHS Pharmacy First Approved List and to follow national prescribing guidance Simple Linctus sugar-free and Simple Linctus Paediatric sugar-free have now been removed from this list.

Those who experience a dry and/or tickly cough can be provided with information on clinical management of the symptoms related to these ailments. NHS Inform has a wealth of information which can be given to patients. Patients can also access NHS Inform online from their home where they can continue with self-care guidance to manage their symptoms.

If a patient requires further assistance with their condition, they can seek advice from their community pharmacy and further referral, if it is deemed necessary, by accessing the NHS Pharmacy First Scotland service.

This update goes live on Saturday the 1st of June 2024. However, simple linctus products can still be supplied, and claims will still be accepted and paid until 31st of July as the usual 2-month grace period will apply to allow for stocks to be run down in your community pharmacy.
