PRS System Downtime - April 25th @ 18:00 until April 28th @ 08:00

Published: 23/04/25

Our colleagues at NSS have asked us to pass on the following message:

NHS National Services Scotland (NSS) are undertaking a tech refresh of the Patient Registration Service (PRS) to ensure continued support. As part of this process, NSS will need to schedule a PRS system downtime.

Outage Period:
Start: Friday, April 25th at 18:00
End: Monday, April 28th at 08:00

Important information for PRS Users:

  • During this window, NSS have planned activities for Friday evening and Saturday to restore the service as quickly as possible. Please complete any work on PRS no later than 16.00 on April 25th.

  • You will be notified if the go-live is confirmed on April 24th.

Important information for Community Pharmacy Network:

  1. The eligibility check for PFS will fail and the response status will be ‘Failed’ or ‘Unknown’ depending on the PMR; this won’t prevent the next stage of entering the data for a PFS Standard or PFS PGD claim but will require the user to confirm that they wish to continue. If this is a new patient and no record exists on the PMR, no CHI will be known due to the eligibility check failure so the PMR will use the dummy CHI number in the PFS Standard claim.

  2. For MCR Registrations, the PMR will return a ‘pending registration’ status, if an attempt is made to register a new patient. The ‘pending registration’ status will allow a serial script to be dispensed. Any registration submitted during the downtime will be passed to PRS the night the service is resumed, and the registration status response returned the next day via the daily registration update process

Please take note of when the PRS system will be unavailable to you. The service will be back up and running by April 28th.

For any queries on this news article, or for further information, please contact NSS directly via this email or Teams. NSS appreciate your understanding and cooperation during this period.
