Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Use

There are currently a number of changes to how we work in community pharmacy, as COVID restrictions change and ease.


We wanted to take this opportunity to contact you re PPE to confirm the current guidance.

This information is correct at the time of writing and will be updated as and when there are any further changes

PPE Guidance for community pharmacy has not changed

  • Masks still need to be worn at all times and changed regularly in line with guidance, following the donning and doffing processes.

  • Gloves and aprons supplied centrally via the PECOS System should only be used where there will be direct contact with blood and body fluids (BBF) is anticipated, and should not be routinely worn for any other tasks.
