Beyond Level 0

We wanted to take this opportunity to provide an update for community pharmacy teams. This information is correct at the time of writing and will be updated as and when there are any further changes

PPE Guidance for community pharmacy has not changed

IIR Masks still need to be worn at all times and changed regularly in line with guidance, following the donning and doffing processes.

  • Gloves and aprons supplied centrally via the PECOS System should only be used where direct contact with blood and body fluids (BBF) is anticipated, and should not be routinely worn for any other tasks.

  • Full details are in the document “Guidance for Primary Care” above.

The wearing of face coverings – subject to existing exemptions – remains a legal requirement for patients and customers in community pharmacy.

Two-metre physical distancing remains in place in healthcare settings.
